DO NOT SIGN THE PETITION FOR SQ836
| Please Do Not Sign the Petition for SQ 836 — Protect Oklahoma’s Primary Elections The signature gathering process for State Question 836 (SQ 836) also known as the Open Primaries Initiative kicked off yesterday. Please encourage everyone you know NOT to sign this petition to put SQ 836 on the ballot. Supports of this proposal are touting that this would encourage people to vote and allow all voters to participate in the primaries. SQ 836 would eliminate the Republican and Democrat primaries and place all candidates on a single ballot. The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, would then advance to the general election.“Don’t California” elections by importing a system that has failed elsewhere, like California. The current system does not exclude independent voters from voting in the primary. This structure would mathematically benefit the party with fewest number of candidates while splitting votes among the party with most candidates, leading to distorted outcomes.Open primaries would reduce true voter choice by making it almost impossible for third-party or independent candidates to advance to the general election. This would undermine party representation and voter clarity, leaving many Oklahomans without a clear voice in the process. There is no statistical evidence showing that open primaries lead to higher voter turnout or greater engagement.Open primaries often cause confusion, spoil ballots, and make it harder for voters to know where candidates truly stand. In short, SQ 836 would weaken Oklahoma’s party structure, reduce representation, and limit voter options, not expand them. Let’s protect Oklahoma’s proven primary system and keep decisions in the hands of clearly represented voters! DECLINE TO SIGN! |

CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT ON ASSASINATION OF CHARLIE KIRK TODAY
Oklahoma County GOP Chairman Kayla D. Blount has released the following statement following the assassination of Charlie Kirk today:
When heartache strikes without warning, it’s nearly impossible to articulate the pain. Words feel essential, yet I’m struggling for what to say. The only comfort amidst today’s tragedy lies in knowing that Charlie Kirk heard the words we all long to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
We are truly devastated by the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk during today’s event at Utah Valley University. We stand in full condemnation of this senseless act of violence. There is no place for political violence in our world, no matter how deep our disagreements.
Our hearts and prayers are with Charlie’s wife, Erika, their children, all his loved ones and friends, and those who supported the mission of Turning Point. Today will be a day that is engraved on all our hearts.
